Has anyone here tried acupuncture for their dogs?
Situation is a 5 year old Yorkie who has been diagnosed with and operated on for patellar luxation $1500 , only to heal and then find out she also has a degenerative spinal disorder. Surgery is $3000 4000 and no guarantees. It's been 3 years since she was pain free, the last 18 months has been due to spine, not her knees. She has been on cortisone pills for 15 months, starting with a low dose of half a pill every 2 days up to now 1 2 pills daily as needed. Some days she cannot walk at all and others she drags her butt and can get around to a point. Occasionally she has a good day and while never playful she can enjoy a stroll around the yard. No one can touch her anywhere but her head, she starts screaming from pain or fear of pain.Vet brought up acupuncture and it's something we're looking into but would like to know if anyone has experience with this, either with their dog or even personally. Does acupuncture really work? If you've went this route with your dog, how did they react to the needles? How many treatments were needed? Has it been an ongoing process?
How does acupuncture work?
not the treatment, results or methods, but what happens in the body physically when you undergo treatment?
Can anyone recommend a chiropractor in los angeles/california who will accept medi- cal- same for acupuncture?
i have a degenerative issue with my spine that needs to seriously be addressed by a professional chiropractor. unfortunately i am unemployed and disable and only covered by medi cal. it is difficult finding any kind of healthcare with such limited insurance, and even more frustrating that my health issues have progressed declined because i haven't been able to find anyone who will treat me, in spite of their diagnosis that I need serious help due to most providers not accepting medi cal. If anyone knows of a good professional compassionate chiropractor, and or acupuncturist because I need to get some acupuncture treatment as well that accepts medi cal and or may even take on pro bono cases could you please let me know with any referrals suggestions? Thank you Very much in pain and would like to restore my health so I can work again
How can I get licensed as an animal acupuncturist, if I'm already licensed for human acupuncture?
I have done a lot of research on this topic, and the general answer that I get back is that I must first be a DVM. This sounds backwards to me, since I have a Master's in TCM and am licensed for human acupuncture. This seems to be state specific as well, so please name the state you have in mind. Thanks

Why isn't acupuncture used more widely in the U.S.?
I have found it very successful in identifying and treating chronic, long term stress. My brother messed up both shoulders lifting weights. One was restored to good condition after a lot of painful Western treatments and $10K in insurance money. He had the other recover as much after only 2 painless acupuncture treatments.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov bookshelf br.fcgi?book altrehab& part A1489ncbi.nlm.nih.gov pubmed 15135942ninds.nih.gov disorders chronic pain chronic pain.htm

Acupuncture question!?
Please only respond if you know about acupuncture and aren't just going to give a ignorant response. Does anyone know what the Triple warmer 2 point is related to health condition wise? My right ring finger has been feeling a nagging pain like it needs to be pulled on.
Acupuncture: negative chi makes it worse?
I identify, theoretically, with meditation, qigong, acupuncture, and guided imagery all of these practices tap into the chi, a concept I strongly believe in. However, I have a years long problem with working with energy. In separate acupuncture sessions about 10 years apart, I lost control of all my emotions at the penetration of one of the first needles, and was depressed for the rest of the day. When attempting qigong, meditation or guided imagery, my energy feels repellent like there are bugs crawling all over my skin. I can't remain still or calm I can't wait for it to be over. Can someone tell me what this means?
