What do creative writing professors do?
I would like to be a creative writing professor, but I can no find out exactly what they do. I love to write, and to help other people become better writers, so that is why I want to become a creative writing english professor. Does this fit with the profession? What is the life of such a professor like?
English creative writing: different styles...?
for an english essay i have to write about a childhood memory in two paragraphs. i have to use two different styles for the paragraphs. i've thought of 1st person for the 1st paragraph, any ideas for the 2nd paragraph?thanks in advance
Requirements to become a creative writing teacher at a higher level.?
I wish to become a creative writing teacher hopefully at a higher level. High school or eventually, and hopefully, college. I already plan to get an MFA master of fine arts In the subject. However, I was told by a teacher not to major in education in order to get a teaching certificate. I was curious what education I would need for this career. Also, would I be able to get my teaching certificate while I go to college for my MFA?

I've been asked to do a creative writing piece so I did a twist in the tale. I don't want to give too much away, so here it is. I would be happy if people could tell what needs to be improved or if i can add things to it. BTW it's supposed to be a short story so i only did like 4 paragraphs. Anyway here it is Anxiously, Elle stood in front of the mouth of the tunnel. She took a deep breath as she walked in. Many women before her had lost all their dignity in this torture chamber what was she getting herself into?The pungent smell began to creep towards her, and before she knew it she was in a daze. Hypnotized by the aroma she treaded softly to where the weapon of mass destruction lay, in all its finery, looking innocent. It was one of a kind, and once used, would never be returned if Elle was going to take it, she d have to savour it. The more she looked at it, the more she wanted it.Oblivious to everything around her, Elle continued to ogle at it. Suddenly, a hand stretched out in front of her and grabbed it and before she knew it, she was held at gunpoint with the weapon in front of her. It made her feel uneasy when she was just looking at it, but now that it was right in front of her ready to be used, she felt faint. Tormented, she looked on as the top seal was removed. In a few seconds it would be gone. 5...4...3... Elle couldn t take it anymore. She snatched the cupcake out of the hands and savoured it slowly it was love at first bite.

Here is my story, it is supposed to be contrasting the river on a stormy day to a peaceful day.Please help with paragraphing, language features, anything that doesn't sound right etc. I need some feedback ThanksAll was din .It seemed never ending. Relentless rain reverberated of the roof, constant, beating like sneer drums. The monster of Mother Nature attacked. Releasing her sorrows, fat teardrops fell, tiny missiles pelting the earth. From her lips came winds, wildly whipping the Pohutakawas, who bowed and creaked in surrender. Icy, frigid it whistled through the windows and sent rain pelting against the glass where I watch.Trapped in ensconce of home the squall outside fails to reach me with its frigid grasp. I stand encased in the warm air billowing from the fire and gaze down on the river below. Turmoil. A raging, parading torrent carrying with it bunches of debris. It was brown, murky rolling over itself, topped with small white capped waves, frothing like a rapid dog.Slowly, steadily rising. It nips at the bridges and inches steadily up towards our bank.Colourless skies loomed overhead sending out occasional growls amidst the deluge. I ask myself again, will the clouds not run out of rain? Later, the downpour trickles to a halt. An uncanny calm emerges as the sun seeps through the dull. Clouds drift away, curtains parting, azure the sky is revealed.Mother nature, exhausted from her fit of rage sends only whispers to the Pohutakawas who sway, caressed by her tranquil words.The river, days after, is now a glassy mirror, reflecting the cloudless space above. The Sun shines, skipping its beams like bright stones across the water. Out on its surface I sit, like an eel it winds through the banks this sleek sinuous, full bodied animal. My paddle pierces its blue skin, in and out, in and out. I leave a trail of concentric ripples, which radiate out, distorting the clear reflection of my kayak.Breathing I taste the air, crisp, fresh, heavy no more with the weight of precipitation. Does the University of Nevada-Reno offer a program on Creative Writing?
I am planning to double major in both journalism and creative writing. Writing is my passion and I wish to study and work with writing. I looked through several universities through Cappex.com and the University of Nevada catched my attention immediately. I was also recommended to it by my uncle, a recent graduate from there. Yet I could not find any creative writing information anywhere. Did I just not look well enough or does it not exist?
